Robert Wynn and Sons get go-ahead on Multi-Purpose Pontoon Project
Transport Minister, Gus McDonald, has today given the go-ahead for work to begin on the Multi Purpose Pontoon (Terra Marique) Project. 99 percent of the vessel's development costs, totaling nearly £8M, will be provided by the Government through the Inland Waterways Freight Grant scheme. The project will developed by Robert Wynn and Sons Ltd., who will also own and operate the vessel. The Terra Marique is expected to remove significant numbers of abnormal loads from the road network over the next 20 years, delivering benefits to the environment and the traveling public.
